The Scholarship
The Peter Massias Foundation awards scholarships annually to needy students at Camperdown, a High School in Kingston, Jamaica.
The Scholarship is only available for Camperdown students that are transitioning from Grade 7 to Grade 8.
Peter
Our friend Peter Franklin Massias loved playing marbles, riding his yellow bicycle and playing Monopoly with his friends.
Peter fought sickle-cell anemia with admirable strength and determination. He loved learning and never wanted to miss a day in school, even when he was going through a health crisis. Peter was always happy, kind, loved people and saw no flaws in anyone. We set up the Peter Massias Foundation in his honor, to support fellow students at Camperdown High School.
The Foundation
The Peter Massias Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization, started in 2021 by members of Form 1B who graduated with Peter from Camperdown High School in 1978.
The group named the foundation in memory of class member Peter Massias, who died in 1976 from complications caused by Sickle Cell Anemia.
Your donations help students of the Camperdown High School to afford the costs associated with getting their education. This includes assisting with school fees, books, transportation, extra curricular activities, meals, after school clubs and societies, and more. Without your help, some of these children will not be able to continue at the school.
It should be borne in mind that US residents may deduct up to $300 from gross income for their qualified cash charitable contributions to public charities, private operating foundations, and federal, state, and local governments.
